SECTION 1

Your Insurance Agreement

This insurance provides coverage for the actual cost of veterinary treatment required due to illness or diagnosed medical conditions, subject to the terms and exclusions outlined in this agreement. Coverage becomes effective 7 days after the policy issuance date and is valid until the policy expiry.

SECTION 2

What Is Covered Under This Policy

 

This policy covers medical treatment costs incurred due to sickness, illness, or chronic medical conditions.
Treatment must be provided exclusively at veterinary clinics or hospitals approved by ILAF Takaful Insurance Company. All medical expenses must be deemed medically necessary and approved by the attending veterinarian.

The list of currently approved veterinary service providers is included at the end of this policy document and may be updated from time to time.

 

1. Veterinary Examination Fees
   Initial consultations, physical examinations, and any medically necessary follow-up visits related to a covered illness are included under this policy. Follow-up care is covered for up to two (2) weeks from the date of initial treatment, provided it is directly related to the same illness.

 

All services must be performed at veterinary clinics or hospitals approved by ILAF Takaful Insurance Company and must be recommended by the attending veterinarian.

1. Emergency and Hospitalization Care
   Covers emergency care required for sudden illness episodes such as seizures, collapse, poisoning, respiratory distress, or severe vomiting.
   Includes:
   – Emergency triage and stabilization
   – Oxygen therapy, IV fluids, and monitoring
   – Overnight hospitalization at Hope Pet HospitalC. Surgeries (Non-Elective)
   This policy covers surgeries that are medically necessary to treat your pet’s illness and cannot be postponed without risking their health. These are not optional procedures — they are urgent treatments for serious conditions.

 

What is covered under surgery:

• Pre-surgery tests (e.g. blood work, X-rays) to assess your pet’s condition
• Anaesthesia and the surgical operation itself
• Post-surgery recovery care, including hospitalization, pain relief, and necessary follow-up at an approved clinic or hospital

Surgery is defined as a medical procedure performed by a licensed veterinarian that involves incision or operative technique for therapeutic purposes.

Examples of covered surgeries include:

• Tumour removal
• Surgery for bladder stones
• Removal of a gastrointestinal (GI) blockage

Note: Elective procedures (such as spaying, neutering, or cosmetic surgery) are not covered under this policy.

1. Prescription Medications
   This policy covers medications that are prescribed by a veterinarian at an approved clinic or hospital for the treatment of a covered illness. Covered drugs include:

• Antibiotics
• Anti-inflammatory medications
• Hormone therapies (e.g. Endocrine therapies, such as insulin for diabetes or thyroid hormone replacement)
• Other condition-specific medications that are medically necessary and directly related to the covered illness

Medications must be part of a treatment plan approved by the attending veterinarian. Supplements, preventive treatments, or medications for non-covered conditions are not included (e.g. flea/tick or heartworm).

1. Chronic Conditions
   Long-term medical issues diagnosed after the start of this policy are covered, including:
   – Diabetes
   – Thyroid disorders
   – Kidney/liver disease
   – Skin allergies
   – Arthritis or respiratory illness
   Coverage includes monitoring, medications, and diagnostics, subject to the policy limit.F. Imaging (X-rays, Ultrasound, etc.)
   Diagnostic imaging used to assess or monitor internal organs, joints, or soft tissue conditions is covered. This includes:
   – X-rays
   – Ultrasound scans
   – EchocardiographyG. Laboratory and Diagnostic Testing
   Covers medically required lab tests prescribed by approved hospital or clinic to diagnose or monitor a condition.
   Includes:
   – Blood and urine tests
   – Biopsies and cytology
   – Infectious disease screening
   – Hormone panels and allergy testing

SECTION 3

Policy fee and Benefits

1. Insured Pets
   This policy covers your dog(s) and/or cat(s) for illnesses that are diagnosed and treated at a veterinary hospital or clinic approved under this policy.

– Premium per dog: KD 250 (one-time, non-refundable)
– Premium per cat: KD 200 (one-time, non-refundable)
– Annual coverage limit: KD 1,000 per pet

B. Payment of Claims
When a covered claim is approved, the pet owner will not be required to pay for eligible treatment upfront. Exalgia, appointed by ILAF Takaful Insurance Company, will directly pay all covered costs to Hope Pet Hospital, up to the annual limit of KD 1,000 per pet.

SECTION 4

General Conditions of Coverage

1. Coverage starts seven (7) days after the policy issuance date.
   B. Only medical services performed at approved Hospital and clinic are eligible.
   C. This policy covers pets located in Kuwait only.
   D. Coverage ends upon reaching the annual limit or policy expiry, whichever comes first.

SECTION 5

Obligations of the Policyholder

 

To remain eligible for coverage, the policyholder must:
– Follow all veterinary advice, including prescriptions and follow-ups
– Provide accurate information when seeking treatment
– Avoid delays that may worsen the pet’s condition

Failure to follow these responsibilities may result in the denial of claims or termination of the policy.

SECTION 6

Eligible Claims Summary

This policy covers:
– Veterinary consultation and diagnostic exams
– Emergency treatment and hospitalization
– Medically required surgery
– Chronic illness management
– Prescription medications
– Imaging and laboratory testing

 

All eligible claims must be medically necessary and approved by a licensed veterinarian at an approved facility.

SECTION 7

Exclusions

This policy does not cover:

To ensure clarity and prevent abuse, the following are not covered under this policy:

A. Pre-existing Conditions
Any illness showing symptoms or diagnosis prior to the policy start date or during the 7-day waiting period.

B. Congenital or Genetic Conditions
Conditions linked to birth defects or inherited disorders unless specified in writing.

C. Routine and Preventative Care
Vaccinations, deworming, grooming, flea/tick prevention, or wellness exams.

D. Elective and Reproductive Surgeries
Spaying, neutering, pregnancy-related treatment, or fertility procedures.

E. Treatment Outside Hope Pet Hospital
Only treatments performed exclusively at Hope Pet Hospital are covered. No reimbursements for outside clinics or emergency visits elsewhere.

F. Behavioral or Psychological Therapy
Training, behavioral correction, and anxiety medications are excluded.

G. Owner Negligence or Mistreatment
Illness resulting from willful neglect, abuse, or failure to provide basic care is not covered.

H. Participation in Fights
Any illness or injury resulting from organized or unorganized fighting activities, whether legal or illegal.

I. Death or Post-Mortem Services
Death due to any cause, post-mortem examinations, or financial compensation for death are excluded.

J. Claims Exceeding Annual Limit
Once the annual limit of KD 1,000 per pet is reached, no further coverage is provided.

SECTION 8

 

Definitions

– Illness: A pathological condition resulting from infection, metabolic dysfunction, inflammation,

or other non-traumatic causes.
– Chronic Condition: A persistent or recurring illness requiring long-term management.
– Veterinary Treatment: Medical services provided by a licensed vet, including exams,

medications, diagnostics, and surgery.
– Name of vet clinic or hospital: All covered treatments must be administered at a veterinary clinic or    hospital approved by ILAF Takaful Insurance. At the time of issuing this policy, the only approved facility is:

The list of approved clinics and hospitals may be updated from time to time. Updated information will be made available through official communication channels or upon request.
